Malia Obama & Inter-racial Coupling

We’ve all seen the headlines – Malia Obama caught on camera kissing a white guy. When beautiful, intelligent, black girls couple up with guys from another race, the depressing statistics on black marriages rear their ugly head. ‘Only 30% of black American adults were married in 2015, Black women—particularly those who are educated, like Malia Obama, are faced with a limited pool if they want to date within their race.’ ‘Among all demographics, African American women are the least likely to date outside their race—with only 12% marrying non-black spouses.’ Apparently, according to Stanford law professor, Richard Banks, ‘there is social pressure on black women to only marry black men—to ‘sustain’ the race and build strong black families,” Black women are encouraged to marry ‘down’ before they marry ‘out.’” Hmmm…

Mocca Mums, a bit harsh? True? Do we have a role to play in this?
